He pulls away, leaning over and covering me with his body so I can hear his soft words. One hand grabs my hair and pulls my head back, the motion only emphasizing his current control. “I’m going to fuck you raw,” he says. “Like the dirty slut you are. And then I’m going to come all over your ass. Got it?”

He’s phrasing it like I don’t have a choice, but I know why he’s saying it. Asking if he can fuck me without a condom and pull out without stopping the game we’re playing.

“You might be dirty, but I’m clean.”

  “Yes,” I breathe.

He doesn’t need any other encouragement, slamming into me. The orgasm explodes behind my eyes, and I scream. It’s been building and building and he just lit the fuse on the dynamite. He’s so big that I ache from the fullness of him fucking me, but his cock is reaching so deep that he’s hitting the spot that makes the fireworks continue.

I can’t move. Can’t breathe. Can’t do anything but hold on while he slams into me again and again. Everything is different without the condom. He’s thicker. Hotter. The friction setting off sparks I didn’t know could exist.

He pulls out abruptly, rubbing his cock over my asshole and spreading my own wetness there. “Imagine this,” he says. “Imagine it happening. Your tight little hole filled with my cock.”

My whole body shudders, and I nearly come again when he thrusts back into my pussy. He’s not finished with me, reaching around to my clit and working me with his fingers.

“I can’t,” I say. My body feels too sensitive, too electrified. Everything is too much. I’m already drowning in pleasure. Any more and I might die.

  “You can.”

  And I do.

The world goes white, and I scream even louder this time. Every cell in my body is infused with pleasure and for a brief, shining moment I’m a supernova. The world shatters open and comes back together, and I’ll never be the same after that.

Leo pulls back, shouting his own climax and spilling his heat all over my ass before collapsing beside me.

I can’t speak. I don’t even think I can move. But I look at Leo, and he comes closer to kiss me. We don’t need words to know that that was perfect. Heightened by our little game and this impossible, indescribable chemistry.

Now I need a fucking nap.

A loud knock sounds on the front door, and we both freeze. “Leo?”

It’s a female voice. One that I don’t recognize. His eyes go wide. “Fuck. That’s my parents.”

“Already? What time is it? Did we know they were getting here now?”

He laughs. “Wasn’t exactly looking at the clock, and no, I don’t think we did.” Jumping off the bed, he starts pulling on clothes. “I was going to help you,” he gestures to my ass.

“I’ve got it,” I say. “Just buy me a little time.”

“I will.” The heat returns to his eyes. “But I like the way you look covered in my cum.”

  I groan. “Not helping.”

He disappears, and I slip into the bathroom to rinse myself off. Moving quickly, I throw on some clothes, but nothing is really going to be done about my hair. I look freshly fucked, and his parents probably heard my scream. Not exactly a great introduction, but if we’re trying to sell the bit, this will work.

I run my hands through my hair in a last desperate attempt, but it’s no use, and I hear Leo calling me. I’m out of time.

Stepping out into the living room, I smile and try not to blush.

“Diana,” Leo says, “these are my parents, Charles and Helen.”

The couple in front of me could have stepped out of a country club. Leo’s father is an older version of his own features, still handsome, dressed in a polo and like he should be going golfing. His mother is beautiful too, refined in a cardigan and pearls. And right now they’re both looking at me with skepticism.

I step forward and hold out my hand. “Hi. It’s really nice to meet you.”

Leo’s mom stares me down so hard that I feel like I’m still naked. But she takes my hand and shakes it once, and then his father does. A hand slips around my waist and Leo kisses my cheek.

“Nice to meet you, Diana,” Leo’s father says. “Now that we know that you actually exist.”

I smile over at my fake fiancé. “I told him to tell you earlier, but he’s stubborn. And it was his choice.”

He pulls me in quickly for a kiss on my lips and my stomach does a little flip. “You did tell me,” he says with a smile. “I just wanted to keep you all to myself for a while.”

“Can I get you guys anything?” I ask his parents. “Coffee?”

“That’s all right,” Helen says. “We just wanted to say hello.”

“I’ll walk you over to your cabin,” Leo says as I head to the kitchen. I actually do want a cup of coffee. After all that, I need it.

I’m taking a mug out of a cabinet when Helen’s voice falls over the room. “Where’s your ring?”

Behind me, I can almost sense that Leo has gone still. Probably panicking that he forgot about a ring. “Oh, it’s still being sized. But it’s beautiful. Your son has excellent taste.”

I glance at Leo, and there’s such naked thankfulness on his face that my chest hurts. This means so much to him. Helen is still staring at me, and the silence is a little awkward, but it seems like she accepts the reason.

“We’ll get settled in then,” Charles says, “and get to know you better later.”

  I smile. “Sounds perfect.”

They head toward the front door.

Leo steps close and kisses me again. My heart pounds because I love the casual way that he touches me. It feels so natural and so real that I wish it weren’t pretend. Someone who takes the time to touch me just because they can is what I’ve always wanted. “I’ll be back soon.” Then, softer. “Thank you.”

“No problem,” I whisper. “I’m going to take a shower now so that next time I see your parents, I don’t have the remnants of your tongue on my ass.”

Leo chuckles and kisses me on the forehead—even though his parents are now out of sight—and heads out. I’m left standing in the kitchen with butterflies in my stomach wondering where and how something shifted, and just how much this is going to hurt when it’s over.

  Leo

I lead my parents across the grounds to the guest cabin that they’ll be staying in, my heart still pounding. I didn’t think they’d be here so soon, but at the same time it’s not exactly surprising. Once my parents decide on something, they move on it.

“Well,” my mom says, “I’m very impressed so far, Leo. I still don’t understand why you kept your relationship from us for so long.”

I’m just going to side-step that one. Too dangerous and too much risk. I feel guilty for the lie, but it was the only way to get them to listen. “I’m glad you finally got to meet her.”

“This is nice,” my father says as we arrive at the guest cabin. “It’s very established.”

“We’re doing very well.” I choose to pointedly ignore the jab about the business. Him saying that it looks established means that he thought that it wasn’t. “Well enough that we hope to have new cabins built and expand our attractions in the next two years.”

He looks surprised, and I hold the smugness off my face.

“Will we see you for dinner?”

“Of course,” I say. “How about you come back to my house and I’ll cook for you guys.”

  “You…cook?”

I smile instead of sigh and force a laugh. “Yes, I’ve managed to feed myself for however long I’ve been living on my own.”

She smiles, realizing her mistake. “Sorry, dear. I just don’t think about you cooking much.” Leaning up, she kisses my cheek. “What time would you like us to come over?”

I look at my phone. It’s mid-afternoon. “Seven?”

  “Perfect.”

“I’ll let you get settled then.” It’s easy to make my escape, and as soon as I do, I feel like I
can breathe again. Nothing like waiting until your thirties to almost get caught having sex by your parents.

I’m dreading walking back into the house to Diana. That definitely wasn’t what she signed up for. But when I enter the living room, she’s sitting on the couch with wet hair and fresh clothes, still drinking her cup of coffee and reading something on her phone.

“God, I am so sorry. That’s not exactly how I imagined the first meeting would go.”

Diana smiles. “Honestly, it’s probably better. Didn’t give you a chance to overthink it or make mistakes. Just instinct. But I guess you have to get me a ring now, huh?”

“Right,” I say. “Thank you for that. Quick thinking. And I’m sorry that we were so abruptly interrupted.”

Her eyes drop down my body slowly, perusing me like she’s remembering me without clothes. I like that look. That’s a look that leads to things. “Don’t worry,” Di says in a suspiciously innocent tone. “I’m sure that there will be more of that later.”

Just the thought of that has me half hard. Diana is nothing like I expected. I may have pulled her out of the river, but she’s the one saving my ass.

“My parents are coming over at seven for dinner. Told them I’d cook.”

  “You cook?”

This time I roll my eyes and laugh. “Why does everyone think that I can’t cook?”

“I didn’t say that.” She looks amused. “I just asked.”

  “I can cook. Promise.”

  “Then I’ll help you.”

Later that evening, after I run to the store and grab stuff for an easy dinner, Diana does follow through on her promise to help. Not only that, but we move around my small kitchen in sync like we’ve been doing it for years. When I cut, she stirs. And when she steps away to put together a salad, I take over the stove.

Diana notices. Neither of us says anything, but there’s a synergy that can’t be ignored. It’s actually shocking how seamlessly Diana fits into my life. Like she was meant to be here.

The thought makes me pause. How could everything change in just a few days? I went from not wanting a relationship at all because I didn’t have time, to just wanting something casual with Diana because of chemistry. To needing a fake relationship in order to survive, and now the fake relationship is making me think that being in one might not be so bad. And even further, that I might not want this to end right away.

It could be just the amazing sex that’s blinding me—Diana and I have a chemistry that’s too good to waste—but it doesn’t feel like that’s all it is. When this thing with my parents is over, I’m going to ask her on a date. A real and actual date that doesn’t have my business on the line or us owing each other anything.

The dinner goes well, for all that I’m paying attention to it. I’m locked in my head, shocked at this revelation, and I can’t stop thinking about the possibility of Diana and me being real. And how much I like that idea.

I know I speak, but for the life of me I can’t recall anything I said. Diana laughs and charms my parents, and in between that, she looks at me. She knows something is up, but she doesn’t say anything. Just places her hand over mine and rubs her thumb over the back of it. Casually. I want to pull her into my lap just to have her there.

What is going on with me?

I focus long enough on the conversation to learn more about Diana. She talks about her work as a graphic designer and her friends, and with every word I realize that I want to know this woman.

The feelings in my gut are far too deep for me to acknowledge. Because things like this don’t happen this fast. They don’t.

By the time my parents leave, they’re smiling, and my mom is making plans to take Diana to lunch later in the week. My father is looking at me with approval. This has gone better than I ever hoped it could, and that’s all because of Diana.

She closes the door behind my parents, and we’re left in the dim entryway, pressed together because of the narrow hallway. Diana puts her hands on my chest. Slides them up to my shoulders like the most natural thing in the world. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” I say, voice dry. “I’m good.”

“You just didn’t say much during dinner. I was worried because you were so quiet.”

I’m looking down at her, and even in the dark she’s so fucking beautiful that I can’t breathe. “You were amazing. I didn’t need to say anything.”

Di laughs softly. “I think that they might actually like me.”

“They do.” But I’m not focused on my parents anymore. I’m focused on her lips and the way that she’s leaning into me.

Leaning down, I kiss her. Long, slow, and deep. I’m fully aware that this isn’t an ordinary kiss, and I hope she knows that too. The air charges around us, and I pull her back toward the bedroom. “I’ll deal with the dishes in the morning.”

She’s already undressing. “That’s fine with me.”

  Diana

Waking up sore and satisfied feels like a déjà vu. But this time I’m alone in bed and there’s the scent of pancakes in the air. My stomach growls. Leo and I worked up a ferocious appetite together before falling asleep. No wonder I’m hungry.

It’s late, nearly noon, and I have no regrets. After all, I’m on vacation, right? Nothing says vacation like sleeping late and amazing sex.

Leo’s t-shirt from yesterday is on the floor, and I put it on. It’s so big that I’m swimming in it, but I don’t care. It’s infused with that woodsy smell that’s just him. His sheets are covered in it, and it’s like being wrapped in his arms. I don’t put on anything else, the shirt dropping half-way to my knees.

Leo is making the pancakes in nothing but sweats, muscles and tattoos fully on display. He’s smiling ear to ear and singing softly off key. The show of domesticity takes me by surprise. I lean against the doorframe and watch him, just enjoying the sight.

This feels comfortable, and for the first time in forever, I feel happy. All it took was almost dying in a river.

He turns and catches me watching him, and his grin only grows. “Good morning.”

  “Morning.”

Leo places a plate of pancakes on the bar. “Breakfast?”

  “It smells amazing.”

He snags me around the waist as I walk by, hauling me in for a kiss. “I like the way this looks on you.”

I bite his lip, and it does what I hope—unlocking the heat that’s always between us. I’m pressed against the counter in a second, the sweats he’s wearing doing nothing to hide how hard he is. Then he’s kissing my neck, and I’m dizzy with the scent of him everywhere. “The pancakes are going to get cold,” I manage to say.

  “I don’t care.”

It takes all my willpower to push him away. “I care. You cooked me breakfast, I want to eat it while it’s still hot.”

They’re good too. Just like the chicken parmesan that we had last night was good. “I admit that you know your way around the kitchen,” I say.

  “Damn right.”

I inhale the pancakes like they’re oxygen. It’s good that there aren’t more because I would eat those too. Leo is just watching me with a small smile on his face. “Do I have something on me?”

He laughs. “No, but I do have something to show you.”

  “Uh-oh.”

“Nothing scary.” He rounds the counter to stand in front of me. “But I ran into the city this morning. For pancake stuff, and this.”

Suddenly I realize that there’s a box in one hand, and he’s sinking down onto one knee. “Oh.” My heart pounds in my ears and it feels like all the air in the room has disappeared.

“Diana Simmons, will you fake marry me?”

The ring he reveals is beautiful. A silver ring with swirling designs curling around a shining stone that catches all the light. It can’t be a diamond—no reason for it to be for a fake engagement—but in spite of that this feels incredibly real.

“Yes,” I manage to say, and he slips the ring on my f
inger. My stomach flips seeing it on my hand, just like when he treated me like his girlfriend yesterday. I like seeing his ring on my hand.

Last night with his parents was nice. I can see how they might not be the easiest people to live with or grow up with, but they were kind and seemed to warm up to me as the night went on. The more goodwill I can buy Leo, the better, and his mother will be happy to see me with a ring.

Leo seems to understand my silence, and when he stands and kisses me, it feels different. There’s a line here—I can feel it. Once we cross it, it’s not going to be easy to come back from, but I don’t care. I’m going to do it anyway. This whole thing with Leo, even pretending, is a taste of what I’ve wanted for so long that I’m desperate.

This feels bigger. Deeper. He lifts me off the stool and I wrap my legs around his hips as he carries me to the bedroom.

The first time we had sex he took it slow, but we forced it. All we wanted was to go faster. Leo’s lips on mine now are the kind of slow that is comfortable and effortless. It’s the kind of easy enjoyment that only happens between two people who have all the time in the world.

He eases my mouth open, tracing my tongue with his before pushing deeper. Everything that I have is wrapped up in this kiss.

We collapse together onto the bed, somehow a bundle of limbs and graceful slow motion all at once. My legs are still wrapped around his hips, lining us up exactly through the few clothes we’re wearing. Through his sweats I can feel him. Ready for me.

Leo grabs my wrists, pinning them to the bed as he devours my lips and then moves his mouth across my jaw and down to my neck. He leaves a trail of tingles and fire behind him, my body waking up like it was in a dream. It feels like I’ll never get enough of him.

“Why does this feel different?” I gasp, arching into him as he releases my hand only to slide his hand under his t-shirt. His t-shirt. Like I’m already his. And I’m wearing absolutely nothing to stop him.
